Currect Research that Celebrate Hope Foundation is supporting at Kennedy Krieger Institute

Researchers are advancing Sturge-Weber syndrome (SWS) research by developing AI-assisted MRI and EEG biomarkers to improve early diagnosis, predict outcomes, monitor disease progression, and guide treatment.

Ongoing studies are also evaluating adult outcomes, infant seizure-monitoring devices, and a new Sturge-Weber Acute Crisis (SWAC) Index for assessing neurological crises.
Additional research includes using a mouse model to better understand SWS, developing a gene therapy that could slow or reverse disease progression, and studying glaucoma and vision changes associated with SWS.

Together, these efforts aim to improve early detection, personalize treatment, and enhance long-term care for people with SWS.
